Filomena Silva Secondment – Oroboros

Filomena Silva from CNC, Portugal is on secondment at Oroboros Instruments, Innsbruck, Austria, for the coming five months.

Her research activities consisted of understanding mitochondrial remodelling in NAFLD. The objective is to obtain the suitable characterization of mitochondrial function and biogenesis during NAFLD progression.

Filomena is involved in the task to develop advanced methodology: to isolate functional mitochondria from NAFLD cells and tissues and to improve mitochondrial storage. To reach this objective she is performing high-precision respirometry by using Oroboros Extracellular Flux Analyzer Technology.
Beside actively working on her research project, in early October she also attended the O2K workshop and several social events.
